Passports & Travel Documents
A passport is required to travel to all countries, including Australia. Before you travel overseas ensure your passport is in good order and is travel fit. If your passport is damaged or not valid you may be denied boarding on to your flight by Border officials. Ensure your passport:
- Has not expired
- Is not within six months of expiry (many countries require at least 6 months validity to allow entry).
- Has the necessary visas for your travel destination (your travel agent can advise you on this).
- Is not damaged, defaced or excessively worn (any one of these can mean your passport is invalid for travel).
- Is a machine readable passport if you are travelling to or through the USA.
Getting a Passport
If you are a New Zealand citizen, to get a New Zealand passport complete a passport application form in full. Visit the Department of Internal Affairs Passport Office for all details including a downloadable application form.
If you are a citizen of another country refer to the passport issuing body in that country.
Getting a Visa
For information on entry/visa requirements for the countries you plan to visit or transit you should check with the Embassies [external link] of those countries. TAANZ travel agents can assist with this advice.
